Turn your smartphone into a mobile film kit

The Newell camera cage lets you expand your smartphone’s capabilities with accessories that facilitate more advanced work with video and audio. You can attach items such as LED lights, microphones, additional “magic arm” mounts, and other photo and video equipment to the aluminum frame and handles. Two detachable handles increase comfort when shooting handheld, and the ability to adjust their position allows you to conveniently adapt the entire rig for vertical or horizontal shooting.

Durable construction for demanding use

The Newell camera cage is made of high-quality aluminum alloy, ensuring the entire structure is sufficiently rigid and well-suited for use with a smartphone and a wide range of additional accessories. The metal frame provides stable support for an extensive rig and withstands heavy use. The entire kit, including two handles and Allen wrenches, weighs 661 g. The frame itself measures 18.8 x 11.5 x 1.2 cm, and the set with the handles attached measures 32 x 11.5 x 4 cm.

20 1/4” mounting holes

As many as 20 holes with the popular 1/4” thread provide great flexibility when expanding the set. There are 7 mounting points on each side of the frame (left and right), and 3 on both the top and bottom edges. In addition to the 6 threaded holes, you’ll also find extra holes for positioning pins. These help secure compatible accessories more firmly and prevent them from rotating during operation.

As many as 6 cold shoe mounts

The Newell camera cage offers a total of 6 cold shoe mounts. Four of them are located on the aluminum frame—2 at the top and 2 at the bottom—while the other 2 are positioned on the removable handles. This allows you to quickly mount an additional LED light, microphone, or other compatible accessory on the cage without using the 1/4” threads.

Additional magnets for greater stability

The cold shoe mounts on the handles are additionally equipped with magnets. For accessories with a metal base, the magnetic attraction provides an extra point of stability for the connection. It does not replace properly tightening the accessory, but it helps limit its movement and provides additional security for the entire rig.

Two ways to mount your smartphone

The dual-sided mounting system lets you choose the installation method that best suits your phone. On one side of the Newell camera cage, there is a magnetic ring compatible with the MagSafe standard. On the other side, you can use a metal clamp adjustable from 6.5 to 8.5 cm. Rubber pads protect the smartphone’s casing from direct contact with the metal.

Magnetic mounting isn’t just for iPhones

Does your phone not support MagSafe? No problem. The set includes a self-adhesive metal ring that allows you to use the magnetic mounting method even with devices that don’t have a built-in MagSafe system, including Android smartphones. If you prefer a classic solution, you can always flip the mount over and use the adjustable clamp.

Vertical and horizontal

You can adjust the handle layout to suit your recording style, depending on where you post your photos and videos. Mount them on the shorter sides of the frame when shooting horizontally (e.g., classic videos posted on YouTube) or on the longer sides when shooting vertically (e.g., for TikTok). This way, regardless of the format you choose, you can hold the frame securely with both hands, maintain greater control over your smartphone, and make smoother movements while filming.

Allen wrenches always at hand

Each handle of the Newell smartphone camera rig features a magnetic slot with an Allen key. Whenever you need to loosen a part of the rig, adjust the configuration, or tighten a connection, the tool you need will always be right at your fingertips. Once you’ve finished making adjustments, simply place the key back in the handle, where the magnet will hold it in place.

Stable Mounting of Handles

Each handle is screwed onto the Newell camera cage using a 1/4” screw and secured with a positioning pin. This design reduces the risk of accidental rotation during use and increases the stability of the entire setup. The large number of threaded holes also allows you to adjust the position of the handles to match the orientation of your smartphone and your personal preferences.

Additional Security

On both sides of the handles, you’ll find additional holes that you can use to attach a lanyard, strap, cord, or other compatible safety device. This allows you to further customize the photo-video kit to suit your own workflow. A safety lanyard (or other similar accessory) is not included in the kit and must be purchased separately.
